Anweisungen:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan 180°C). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Prepare the sweet potato: peel if you wish and cut into thick sticks about 1–1.5 cm wide and 6–8 cm long — easy for little hands to grasp.
  3. Trim asparagus: snap off the woody ends and cut spears to about 6–8 cm long. If stalks are thick, slice lengthways so they are easier to hold and softer to chew.
  4. Cut broccoli into small florets about 3–4 cm across so they are manageable for a toddler.
  5. Drain and rinse the chickpeas well, then pat very dry with kitchen paper. Removing excess moisture helps them crisp.
  6. Place sweet potato sticks and chickpeas on the tray. Drizzle with about 10 g olive oil and toss so everything is lightly coated. Spread out in a single layer with space between pieces.
  7. Put the tray in the oven and roast for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, add a second tray (or rearrange) with the asparagus and broccoli tossed with the remaining 5 g olive oil. Return to the oven so the vegetables and chickpeas finish together.
  8. Roast for another 12–15 minutes until sweet potato is tender (a fork slips in easily) and chickpeas are golden outside but still soft enough inside to squash between thumb and finger. Broccoli and asparagus should be tender with slight browning. Total cooking time ~27–30 minutes depending on oven and cut sizes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool well. Test temperature and texture: pieces should be soft enough to mash with gums or between fingers (squash a chickpea to check). Cut or tear any pieces that are too large or firm.
  10. Serve the vegetables as finger foods for baby-led weaning: sweet potato sticks, broccoli florets, asparagus spears and a few whole or slightly smashed chickpeas (supervise closely). Encourage self-feeding and stay present while baby eats.
Summary

Easy oven-roasted sweet potato sticks, tender broccoli and asparagus with crispy-yet-mashable chickpeas — designed for baby-led weaning from 10+ months. Minimal olive oil and no added salt or strong spices to keep flavours mild and suitable for toddlers.

Storing

Cool completely and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Reheat in an oven at 180°C for a few minutes to refresh texture, or briefly in the microwave and check temperature. Do not leave at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

Allergy & Safety

Contains chickpeas (legume) — check for legume allergy history. Always supervise eating, ensure pieces are soft enough to be mashed with gums, and remove any hard or tough bits. Do not add salt or honey for babies under 12 months. If you introduce new foods, do so one at a time to monitor for reactions.
