Anweisungen:

  1. Wash your hands and the orange thoroughly under running water.
  2. Peel the orange and remove any seeds. To give the baby something easy to hold, leave a small strip of peel at the base of each piece to act as a handle, or cut the orange into thick wedges about 2–3 cm wide so the baby can grasp them with the whole hand.
  3. Place a small spoonful (about 60 g) of Yoghurt on a shallow plate and spread it into a shallow puddle for dipping, or serve it in a shallow, baby-safe dish beside the orange wedges.
  4. Offer one wedge at a time for baby-led self-feeding so the baby can hold the orange by the peel and bring it to their mouth; the yoghurt can be used for dipping the orange or for the baby to explore with fingers. Remove any remaining peel or membrane pieces if they come loose.
  5. Always sit the baby upright in a high chair or secure seat, stay within arm’s reach, and watch constantly while they eat. Introduce this snack only when the caregiver is confident the baby can grasp and self-feed; for younger infants at the lower end of the 4–10 month range, wait until they show clear readiness (good head control, sitting with support, and interest in food).
Summary

A simple cold baby-led weaning snack using only Orange and Yoghurt. Serve peeled orange wedges (with a small peel handle if kept) alongside a small shallow portion of yoghurt for dipping; suitable for self-feeding practice.

Storing

Prepare fresh when possible. If you must store, keep peeled orange wedges in an airtight container in the fridge and use within 24 hours; cover Yoghurt and keep refrigerated, use within 48 hours of opening. Discard if texture, smell or colour changes.

Allergies

Check family history for dairy allergy or intolerance before offering Yoghurt. Orange is acidic and may cause mild mouth irritation in sensitive babies; introduce one new food at a time and wait 2–3 days to watch for reactions.

Side effects

Possible mild skin or mouth irritation from citrus in some babies; there is a choking risk with any solid food—always supervise closely, sit baby upright, and adapt piece size to the baby’s ability.
